    I want to donate

The coat they outgrew last winter, the hoodie they wore only twice, the backpack still sitting in the closet, these items can mean far more to another student. Every clothing or financial donation helps place something useful, comfortable, and confidence-building into the hands of a student in your community.

The loop

How it works

Three simple steps, all part of the app. The whole loop runs on campus, so there is nothing to ship and nothing to pay.

  1. List what you are not wearing

Photograph the front, the back, and the label. Include a few details regarding the item’s status. Your listing goes live to students at your school. Both parties’ identities are kept confidential and all items are reviewed.

  2. Claim what you need

Browse everything available in your school’s catalog and claim up to three items per week. It is held for you at no cost. You can earn Rewards for keeping good pieces in circulation.

  3. Pick it up at the booth

We message you the booth date and location according to your school’s schedule, you will also be notified by SMS or push when to pick up the item on the day of. Walk up, provide proof you claimed the item, and take it home.

Our mission

Why we do this

Small things can shape how confidently a student shows up. A jacket that fits, shoes that hold up, and a backpack that closes each help a student feel prepared, included, and ready to focus on their education.

The Community Closet began at Menlo-Atherton High School in 2024 and is one of the fastest growing student run initiatives in California. Every closet is led by students who understand their campus and know how to build a program their community can trust.
